Shandong Foreign Languages Vocational College (SDFLC) is a three-year non-governmental vocational college approved by Shandong Provincial Government in 2005. The college is located in the University and Science Park of Rizhao in Shandong province, “the Charming City of China”. Rizhao University and Science Park enjoys a strong cultural atmosphere and well-protected natural environment. It is at the foot of a mountain named Sleeping Dragon and along the coast of the Yellow Sea. The planned area of SDFLC is 886 mu with a designed space floor of 310, 000 square meters. The designed student number is 8,000-10,000. At present, the total number of students is 10,000. At present, SDFLC has a full-time enrollment of over 3500 students and the full-time teacher’s number is more than 200. There are 4 departments: Foreign Languages Department, Economy and Management Department, Computer Department and Human and Arts Department. SDFLC has 280,000 books in the library as well as instructional instruments valued 1,400,000 yuan. During the process of school running, much emphasis has been laid on discipline construction. The foreign languages majors are “one body” with economic and trade majors and computer information majors as “two wings”. The college has kept laying stress on the overlapping，penetration and integration of the disciplines. The college offers 30 majors: applied English, applied Korean, applied Japanese, applied Russian, applied German, business Japanese, international economy and trade, accounting by Electronic Data Processing, financial insurance, hotel management, foreign tourism, home service, job agency service, computer information management, computer network technology, cartoon design and manufacture, software technology, art design, musical performance, secretarial skills and packaging technology and design. SDFLC aims to train professional, all-round and socially-developed students who are equipped with one major and multi-skills. Emphasis is placed on the blending, crossing and composing of different subjects in order to construct a series of majors that are closely combined with social and economic development and that feature with rational distribution and distinct characteristics.   During the teaching process, the college has adopted the “three-in-one” teaching model, which means the integration of foreign language, major and practical skills. In order to feature the foreign languages characteristic and optimize the training project of the college, the foreign-language teaching method has been carried out all through the teaching process. Meanwhile, foreign language majors will learn courses closely related to their future jobs in order to promote their comprehensive abilities. Therefore, the students will have a good grasp of the listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating of foreign languages. Besides, they will be well equipped with team-work perception and communicating, organizing, coordinating and innovating abilities, as well. As for the administration of students, the college has followed an administration method, “childcare,” to be specific, the whole process, multi-directional and full time.
